The Department of Zoology emerged as an independent department in the year 1980.
The Department shifted to its current building in the year 1987.
Initially Two year (2 Yr.) Higher Secondary Science Stream was started during 1978-2000 and then in the year 1972 & 1980; B.Sc. Degree and Honours Course were introduced respectively.
Most of the students graduating from this department have secured private or government jobs. More number of students are opting for higher education in each year.
At present the Department includes 10 teaching and 3 non-teaching staff besides a Departmental Library and a Museum, 4 Classroom and 1 Laboratory.

To provide quality education to bring out the student’s hidden potentiality so as to attract opportunities for overall growth & development. To provide practical & theoretical knowledge of animal science. To prepare the students to become eligible for scholarship & employment & also to develop the personality of students.

Mission of the Department

The mission of our Zoology Department is to impart basic education of Zoology for UG classes. To make the students to perceive knowledge through academics, co-curricular & extracurricular activities by incorporating leadership and entrepreneurial quality among students. To make the students aware of their responsibilities toward society & achieve relevance of their studies for the betterment of mankind.
